About us

I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your continued commitment, energy, and support for the Conservative cause here in Newark.

On Saturday 23 January, we were delighted to welcome approximately 90 activists to the Belvedere Club in Newark. The turnout alone demonstrated that the Conservatives in Newark are very much alive, energised, and ready for the fight ahead. Under Councillor Sam Smith’s leadership, we delivered hundreds of leaflets in a very short space of time before returning to the club to reflect on recent events and, more importantly, to focus on what we do next.

The atmosphere throughout the day was incredibly positive and inspiring. Members were given the opportunity to air their thoughts, and once those concerns had been expressed, the conversation quickly turned to the future and how we move forward together with optimism and determination.

As your Interim Chairman, my next responsibility is to issue notices inviting potential candidates to apply to become the Newark Conservative representative when the General Election is called, with the aim of selecting our next Member of Parliament for Newark.

My priority is to select a candidate who is focused on representing their constituents rather than personal political ambition — someone who will spend time among the people they serve and champion our wonderful towns and villages, rather than themselves. This is something we have lacked under the current incumbent, and I am determined that it will be different this time.

Thanks to the hard work of our members, activists, and volunteers, we remain a strong and active association rooted firmly in our community. Whether through campaigning, attending events, or simply speaking up for our values, every contribution matters and is genuinely appreciated.

As we look ahead, there is much to be positive about. By working together, staying engaged, and supporting one another, we can continue to promote responsible leadership, opportunity, and common-sense solutions for Newark and beyond.

I have attached some of the many photographs from Saturday’s gathering for your convenience.

Thank you again for everything you do. I look forward to continuing our work together in the months ahead.
