Keeping our promise to freeze Council Tax

While Labour is increasing your County Council tax by 2% this year, we’re working hard on District and Town councils to freeze tax rates

Your Conservatives on Newark District and Town Councils are proposing no increase to council tax for the fifth year running, meeting our promise to you. In May 2013, Labour took control of Nottinghamshire County Council - by far the largest part of your council tax bill - and are increasing your tax already by nearly 2%. They will probably do so for each of the next four years. Nottinghamshire Conservatives had promised no change. Had we been in control, a further 0% on your bill would mean we would have saved you around £590 in the last 5 years (compared to an annual increase by RPI).
